The new poster for ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes‘ has dropped. The film is the fifth installment in The Hunger Games film series and a prequel to The Hunger Games (2012). Based on the 2020 novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. Check out the poster below.
Directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Michael Arndt and Michael Lesslie. The plot follows a young Coriolanus Snow, the future president of Panem, as he mentors a tribute for the 10th Hunger Games—a tournament which paves the way for his tyrannical reign. (Via Vogue)
The film stars Tom Blyth as Coriolanus “Coryo” Snow, Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird, Josh Andres Rivera as Sejanus, Hunter Schafer as Tigris Snow, Jason Schwartzman as Lucretius, Peter Dinklage as Casca Highbottom, Viola Davis as Dr. Volumnia Gaul, Burn Gorman as Commander Hoff, Fionnula Flanagan as Grandma’am, Ashley Liao as Clemensia Dovecote, Isobel Jesper Jones as Mayfair Lipp, Dakota Shapiro as Billy Taupe, Vaughan Reilly as Maude Ivory, George Somner as Spruce, Carl Spencer as Smiley, Scott Folan as Beanpole, and Eike Onyambu as Tam Amber.
According to Book Analysis, the plot summary is as follows: “18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is about to become a mentor in the tenth Hunger Games. He needs a victory badly – both to return his fallen house to glory and to fund his tuition fees for the university. But to his disappointment, he is assigned to Lucy Gray Baird, the tribute from the poorest district in Panem. Refusing to give up, Coriolanus tries to make the best of the situation. He attempts to learn more about Lucy Gray, to help her survive in the arena. In the process, he falls in love with her – only to leave her to her own devices in the Hunger Games, amongst other brutal and starving tributes.”
Lionsgate will release ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ theatrically in the United States on November 17, 2023.
