The filming for season 2 is now scheduled to start on February 20, 2024, in Vancouver, BC, Canada, with filming expected to wrap on September 9, 2024. The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann on Season 2, “My focus on The Last of Us’ next season has remained the same — Craig and I want to create a great season of television that stays true to the themes and intent of the original Part II story while adapting the story as best we can for a different medium.” Recently, ‘The Last of Us’ has earned three nominations for the 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards, including Best Drama Series, Best Actress in a Drama Series for Ramsey, and Best Actor in a Drama Series for Pedro Pascal.

Based on the 2013 video game of the same name, developed by Naughty Dog, the series follows Joel (Pascal), a smuggler tasked with escorting Ellie (Ramsey), a teenage girl, across the post-apocalyptic United States, and Joel’s younger brother and former militiaman, Tommy (Gabriel Luna). Along the way, they encounter fellow survivors, cutthroat bandits, and monstrous clickers who have become so infected by the disease that fungi sprout from their bodies. Created and written by Craig Mazin and Druckmann for HBO.

‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on HBO in early 2025.
