‘The Little Mermaid‘ earned $10.8 million on Thursday previews at the domestic box office. The film is now playing in theaters worldwide.
It was previously reported that ‘The Little Mermaid’ is tracking to earn $200 million–$205 million at its worldwide box office opening weekend. It is expected to debut at #1 on the domestic box office charts with over $120 million during the Memorial Day weekend. If the film could make it, then it will be the fourth movie of 2023 to open with over $100 million at the box office.

The film follows the youngest of King Triton’s daughters, Ariel (Halle Bailey) a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. Longing to find out more about the world beyond the sea, Ariel visits the surface and falls for the dashing Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King). Following her heart, she makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to experience life on land.
