Lana Wachowski will co-write the script with Cloud Atlas author David Mitchell and Sense8 alum Aleksander Hemon, return as director for The Matrix Resurrections. Reeves and Moss lead the cast once again, with Jada Pinkett Smith and Lambert Wilson returning, as well as series newcomers Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Morpheus, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Christina Ricci.

The first footage for the film also pointed to the coffee shop being the setting of an action sequence for the two in which Trinity seemingly displays some form of mind-bending powers.
The Matrix Resurrections follows up 20 years after the events of The Matrix Revolutions, with Neo resuming his normal life in San Francisco as Thomas A. Anderson, who visits a therapist who prescribes blue pills on a daily basis. Anderson stumbles across Trinity one day, though they don’t remember one other, and is soon reunited with Morpheus, who offers him a red pill and the chance to learn the truth about The Matrix. The Matrix Resurrections is gearing up for its long-awaited release after two years of production and COVID-19-related delays.
The Matrix Resurrections: Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss starred will hit HBO Max and theaters on December 22.
