Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are reportedly planning to include Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4. Their roles are expected to be more significant than they were in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
During the December Discord Q&A with Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus) — it was reported that Marvel and Sony are planning another multiverse-setting movie for Spider-Man 4, with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning in larger roles.
The studios aim to create a dynamic team-up film — similar to Deadpool & Wolverine — with Spider-Man and Venom as the primary duo.
Knull to be the Main Villain in Spider-Man 4
According to reports, Knull will be the main antagonist — as multiple factors align with his introduction. His power may be ‘nerfed’ — with explanations tied to his state after leaving Klyntar.
There are also rumors about the potential inclusion of Mephisto, Ghost Rider, and Dr. Doom — with a possible storyline inspired by Web of Shadows, featuring a symbiotized New York and villains.
The movie’s early scenes may feature street-level villains like Scorpion, Prowler, Shocker, or Vulture. Additional symbiotes could play a key role in the main storyline. While not confirmed, there’s speculation about the possible appearances of Daredevil, Miles Morales, and Spider-Man 2099. Cindy Moon (Silk) and Gwen Stacy may also have roles in future stories, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Recently, The InSneider Report confirmed that Zendaya will reportedly have a ‘severely reduced’ role in Spider-Man 4 due to scheduling conflicts with multiple films she has signed on for. Her role in the movie is now described as ‘minor.’
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, it will be the fourth installment of the Spider-Man series. “Following the events of Avengers: Doomsday, Peter Parker is determined to lead a normal life and focus on college, stepping back from his responsibilities as Spider-Man. However, peace is short-lived when a deadly new threat emerges, endangering his friends and forcing Peter to reconsider his promise. With stakes higher than ever, Peter reluctantly returns to his Spider-Man identity and finds himself teaming up with an unlikely ally to protect those he loves.”
Produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man 4 will hit theaters on July 24, 2026.
