Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4 will not be an Ant-Man and the Wasp-type film set between two Avengers movies.
In a January Q&A with Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), it was revealed that Spider-Man 4 will not serve as a prelude to Avengers: Doomsday. Currently, Holland’s contract with Marvel and Sony includes another Spider-Man trilogy, along with three non-Spidey MCU appearances (Doomsday, Secret Wars, and one undisclosed film). Additionally, he has creative input on his character’s development, influencing both the MCU and Sony’s cinematic universe reboot.
How Are Spider-Man: No Way Home Events Connected to Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars?
The events of Spider-Man: No Way Home play a major role in setting up Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Doctor Strange is reportedly 75% responsible for the upcoming Incursion, with No Way Home contributing 60% to the chain of events leading to Doomsday.
Filming will begin as per the planned schedule in June in the United Kingdom, with wrapping expected in October 2025. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) will direct the film from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, it will be the fourth installment of the Spider-Man series.
Is Knull the Main Antagonist of Spider-Man 4?
There are no major updates confirming whether Knull remains the main antagonist, but details will likely be revealed in the coming months.
Recently, insider Daniel Richtman revealed that Spider-Man 4 will feature a new female love interest for Peter Parker. Black Cat is a potential choice, but the official casting will be announced soon. Meanwhile, Zendaya, who reprises her role as Michelle “MJ” Jones, will have a “severely reduced” role in Spider-Man 4 due to scheduling conflicts with several other films she has signed on for.
