Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man will reportedly have a major role in Avengers: Doomsday. His role in the film will be bigger than it was in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as confirmed by Daniel Richtman in a post on his Patreon.
According to Richtman, Holland is set to film the untitled Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Doomsday in early 2025 — a plan has been put in place to accommodate both filming schedules.
Has Marvel Studios and Sony Negotiated a New Deal for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man?
We previously reported that Marvel Studios and Sony have reportedly negotiated a new deal. According to X user @MyTimeToShineH, the Marvel-Sony deal will have Tom Holland reprising his role as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in three more solo films (Spider-Man 4-6) and three additional MCU films, including Avengers: Secret Wars and two others.
The previous deal only covered Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Doomsday. A significant part of the new deal is for him to have a major role in the Avengers films. Also, Marvel President Kevin Feige will remain in charge of the Spider-Man films.
It is confirmed that Holland’s Spider-Man 4 is going to be directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton, with filming set to begin next year. The film reportedly features Tom Hardy’s Venom and Knull (the Symbiote God) and is being developed as a street-level story. Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and it is reported that Sony is trying to bring back Zendaya, while Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds won’t be returning. The script is written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, known for their work on previous MCU Spider-Man films.
Filming for the two ‘Avengers’ movies will begin in London in the second quarter of 2025. Stephen McFeely will pen the script. The Russo Brothers will also produce the two films via their AGBO banner, which is clearly outside the norm for Marvel, as they typically don’t work with outside producers, preferring to keep the team in-house. Robert Downey Jr. will be playing Victor von Doom—not Tony Stark—in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. He will be the main villain, replacing Kang the Conqueror due to the Jonathan Majors controversy. He’s the Doom from The Fantastic Four: First Steps universe. While his role in that movie won’t be significant, he will be teased.
Spider-Man 4 is expected to hit theaters in 2026.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to be released on May 1, 2026, and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ will be released on May 7, 2027.
