Sony’s Madame Web originally featured Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man, but Marvel Studios declined the idea.
According to insider DanielRPK, Madame Web was initially intended to be part of the MCU, but Marvel Studios turned it down. The original story included Holland’s Spider-Man at the beginning of the film, with the Spider-Women tasked with saving baby Peter Parker.
There is also concept art from Madame Web that was released, showing Holland’s Spider-Man fighting Ezekiel Sims.

With the release of Kraven the Hunter, Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off universe is officially dead. Moving forward, Sony will focus on Spider-Man-related projects, including Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, and the Spider-Noir series.
The upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and a production budget of $200 million.
The film stars Holland returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ Watson, and Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas in undisclosed roles. Additionally, Marvel Studios is casting for three new roles in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Two of these roles are for villains — one male and one female.
The film will be produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
