Victoria Pedretti (You) and Blair Underwood (American Crime Story) have joined the cast of Ava DuVernay’s “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.” The film also adds Finn Wittrock (Ratched) and Isha Blaaker (The Flight Attendant). The previously announced cast members are Aunjanue Ellis (Lovecraft Country), Leonardo Nam (Westworld), Donna Mills (Nope), and Emily Yancy (Sharp Objects).
The film is written and directed by Ava DuVernay. Based on Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson’s best-selling novel of the same name. The other cast includes Vera Farmiga, Niecy Nash, Nick Offerman, Jon Bernthal, Audra McDonald, and Connie Nielsen.
Produced by DuVernay, veteran collaborator Paul Garnes (Selma, Middle of Nowhere) of Array Filmworks. The plot details have not yet been revealed. According to Deadline, the work of nonfiction hailed by The New York Times as “an instant American classic” is said to examine the little-known system of hierarchy that has shaped America.
Victoria Pedretti is best known for her role in the Netflix thriller series “You” as Love Quinn. She will also appear in Season 4 of “You.” Her other credits include Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) and Shirley (2020).
Blair Underwood is known for his roles in High Incident (1996–97), LAX (2004–05), Dirty Sexy Money (2007–09), In Treatment (2008), The Event (2010–11), Ironside (2013) and Quantico (2016–18).
