Marvel Television’s VisionQuest series’ first official plot details have been released following the trailer’s release. The series follows Vision (Paul Bettany) in hiding after being rebooted and escaping those who wanted to weaponize him. While Vision searches for a new purpose by consulting the AI personas inside his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and Ultron, he is joined by Thomas Shepard (Ruaridh Mollica), a mysterious boy who may be his reincarnated son.
Here’s the synopsis for VisionQuest:
“When ‘VisionQuest’ begins, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.”
Following the events of WandaVision, Vision has returned to Scotland and is living a quiet life after being rebuilt by S.W.O.R.D. Although his memories were restored, he still struggles with his emotions and his connection to his past with Wanda.
Tommy Maximoff, whose soul was transferred into a new body by Billy in Agatha All Along, is also in Scotland searching for Vision. Their reunion may become an important part of Tommy’s journey as he prepares to confront Ultron.
Below, you can see the first look at Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari in VisionQuest. The character will have a connection to Tommy Maximoff.
At Disney’s D23 event, Bettany described VisionQuest as “fantastic.”
“I think the fans are going to really get excited… It’s a big swing, and I think Marvel always gets rewarded when it takes big swings, and Terry Matalas, our showrunner, has done an amazing job.”
The cast of VisionQuest includes Paul Bettany as Vision, James Spader as Ultron, Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff/Speed and Thomas Shepherd, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari, Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Diane Morgan as an associate of Paladin, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., and James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S. Faran Tahir also reprises his role as Raza, with Cristian Lavin and Mary McDonnell appearing in undisclosed roles.
The series is directed by Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali, Terry Matalas, and written by Terry Matalas, Cindy Appel, Christopher Monfette, Nicole Falsetti, and Matthew Okumura.
VisionQuest premieres October 14, 2026, on Disney+, with the eight-episode series officially included in Phase Six of the MCU.
