In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dan Cox, the visual effects supervisor for Captain America: Brave New World, revealed that the fight between Captain America and Red Hulk in the movie contains over 300 VFX shots.
Cox shared, “He’s got one of the most identifiable faces in cinema history,” referring to Harrison Ford. “Getting that likeness wasn’t hard,” he added. “Those are Harrison’s actual eyes in there; you’d be surprised how important that actually is. The nose is Harrison’s. The mouth is predominantly Harrison’s. It’s just scaled proportions.”
The team even managed to get the 82-year-old Ford into a motion-capture suit. “Let me tell you, he was all in that morning,” Cox recalled. “The last thing you want is to be the person that hurts Harrison Ford. At one point, I needed him landing and thought we could have the stunt guy do it. But he was like, ‘No, no, no! I’ll do it.’
“I set up an apple box about two feet off the ground and said, ‘I need you to jump down onto the ground and land as the Hulk.’ He did it about a dozen times, and every single time, I held my breath. But he went all in.”
Directed by Julius Onah from a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton. The film stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres/Falcon, Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/Leader, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph/Sabra, Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder, Rosa Salazar, and Xosha Roquemore.
IMDb reported that the film has a duration of 2 hours and 15 minutes (135 minutes), including post-credits scenes.
