How Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse End?

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

At the end of the film, after facing numerous challenges and being chased by the Spider Society, Miles manages to return to his own world. Gwen Stacy, who was expelled from the Spider Society for supporting Miles, reconciles with her father and receives a device from Spider-Punk that allows her to travel between multiverses. Gwen assembles a team consisting of Peter B. (from her universe), Spider-Man India, and Spider-Punk to save Miles, who is being pursued on Earth-1610 by Miguel, Jessica Drew, and a dramatic comic version of Ben Reilly.

However, Miles ends up on Earth-42, a world where his father has passed away, his mother faces financial struggles, and his uncle is alive and working for the Prowler (who is actually the Earth-42 version of Miles). The film concludes with a cliffhanger, leaving the audience curious about how Miles will navigate this unfamiliar reality and whether he will find a way to reunite with his friends, overcome the challenges posed by the multiverse, and resolve his personal conflicts.

Why does the Spot in the Spider-Man comics want to kill Miles and blame him for his transformation?

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Review:
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

In the Spider-Man comics, the character known as the Spot is Dr. Jonathan Ohnn, a scientist and inventor. Dr. Ohnn was working on a particle accelerator for Wilson Fisk, also known as the Kingpin, in a previous movie. During an accident involving the particle accelerator, Dr. Ohnn gained the ability to create portals or spots that allowed him to teleport through the multiverse.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the Spot blames Miles for his transformation and seeks revenge against him. Feeling resentful and seeking to amplify his powers, the Spot begins causing disruptions in the multiverse by recreating particle accidents in various universes. By doing so, he aims to gain more power and potentially eliminate Miles, whom he holds responsible for his altered state. The Spot’s motivations for wanting to kill Spider-Man (Miles) are likely driven by his anger and desire for vengeance, coupled with his belief that Miles is to blame for his transformation. The Spot sees Miles as a threat and wants to kill him as a way to satisfy his desire for retribution.

What is the purpose of the Spider Society led by Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel) in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?

The Spider Society aims to fix the instability in the multiverse caused by villains being transported across different universes.

Why does Gwen join the Spider Society?

Gwen joins the Spider Society after her secret identity as Spider-Woman is revealed to her father. She trains with Jessica Drew and Miguel’s hesitant approval.

Why does Miguel ask Miles to let his father die?

According to Miguel, certain canon events need to happen in each universe for the multiverse to remain stable. Miles’ father’s death is one of these events, but Miles had previously interfered with the timeline by saving Gwen’s father.
