The ‘X-Men ’97‘ Episode 9, titled “Tolerance Is Extinction” Part 2, is now streaming on Disney+. This episode marks the final episode’s epic showdown. Will the X-Men emerge victorious against Bastion and the Prime Sentinels?
Episode 9 opens with Xavier returning from space to Earth and summoning the X-Men to unite, while Magneto has already declared war against humans, threatening to end the world. This must be stopped, so Xavier tries to speak with Magneto to halt this madness, but he refuses due to the loss of mutant lives in the Genosha attack, which has made Magneto very angry.
Magneto offers the X-Men to join his side, seeking revenge for the Genosha attack. Rogue and Roberto join Magneto, but the rest of the X-Men remain determined to prevent Magneto from destroying the world. They split into two groups: Cyclops, Wolverine, Jubilee, and Xavier move to stop Magneto, while Jean Grey, Storm, Morph, Beast, and Cable move to stop Bastion and Sinister.
On their way to Bastion’s base, Sentinels attack Jean Grey, Storm, Morph, Beast, and Cable’s flight. Storm creates a massive cyclone to distract the Sentinels, allowing Jean to confront the more powerful Sinister. However, Jean struggles to contain Sinister’s power, and a momentary glimpse suggests that Jean disappears. It remains uncertain whether she survived. Meanwhile, Cyclops, Wolverine, Jubilee, and Xavier engage in a fierce battle against Magneto and his team.
In the end, Wolverine scratches his claws on Magneto, enraging him, and Magneto tears Wolverine apart. Xavier attempts to intervene and prevent Magneto from killing Wolverine. It remains uncertain whether Wolverine survived. Overall, Episode 9 is a very powerful installment. The next episode will mark the conclusion of ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 1.
The show is a revival/sequel to the iconic “X-Men: The Animated Series,” which aired for 5 seasons on Fox Kids from 1992-1997. Created by Beau DeMayo and directed by Jake Castorena and Chase Conley.
