Netflix is making a ‘Gears of War‘ film, and Zack Snyder wants to direct it. The script is already in the works, as Snyder believes that this game adaptation could make a great movie.
During an interview at IGN’s Gamescom studio, Snyder and his wife, Deborah Snyder, discussed their Rebel Moon films and an upcoming RPG video game set in the same universe. When asked about potential game-to-movie adaptations, Zack said, “We’ve talked about a bunch of… Gears have always come up in our sort of circle.” He added, “I was always interested in the Halo franchise… They, of course, kind of made that, but it was something I always thought could be incredible.“

Netflix announced the Gears of War movie in 2022 along with an adult animated series. The script is being written by Jon Spaihts, known for Doctor Strange and Dune. The director for the adaptation hasn’t been revealed yet. Snyder’s involvement is a possibility due to his Netflix project Rebel Moon.

The citizens of this under-threat colony dispatch Kora (Sofia Boutella), a young woman with a mysterious past, to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to take a stand.
‘Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire’ will premiere on December 22, 2023, on Netflix.
