Matt Reeves‘ sequel to ‘The Batman’ will start production after the strikes end. Meanwhile, Reeves has shared an interesting thing that happened from ‘The Batman’ set.

Reeves revealed that they filmed 70–80 takes for the final scene with Batman and the Riddler, with Paul Dano asking if it was too much, to which Reeves responded, “No, it’s fantastic. Let’s do another.“

Matt Reeves on Filming 70-80 Takes for Batman vs. Riddler Scene

In an interview with The Guardian, Reeves said that they did 70–80 takes for the final scene with Dano and Robert Pattinson as Batman. Dano’s unpredictable acting added excitement, and Reeves always wanted to do more takes when Dano asked if it was too much.

Reeves said, “Paul loves doing a lot of takes, as do I,” he tells me. “We took two days on the final scene between him and Robert Pattinson as Batman, and we must have easily done 70 or 80 takes. Paul loves exploring. He’s obsessive that way.” Not to mention unpredictable, as Reeves explains: “There were all these moments as the Riddler where he’d be tickled by something and then fly into a rage, and you never knew from take to take where that switch would come. I’d be sitting there with the headphones on, trying to stifle my laughter because he’d always do something surprising. Paul would ask me: ‘Was that crazy? Was that too much?’ I’d say: ‘No it’s fantastic. Let’s do another.’”

At the end of ‘The Batman,’ the Riddler targets the mayor and causes chaos. Batman and Commissioner Gordon investigate and find out about corruption involving crime bosses. The Riddler’s motives connect to Bruce Wayne’s family. Alfred gets hurt, secrets are revealed, and Selina Kyle is involved. Batman stops the Riddler, who has a grudge against corruption. There are bomb threats and flooding, but the Riddler’s plan fails. Selina leaves, and Batman promises to bring hope to Gotham. Watch the film now on Max.

The next film, ‘The Batman: Part II,’ is a continuation of the Batman story created by Matt Reeves, which is now officially recognized as an “epic crime saga” within The Batverse. Directed by Reeves and co-written by him and Mattson Tomlin, the film stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin. We already reported that Greig Fraser would return as cinematographer for the sequel.

‘The Batman: Part II’ hits theaters on October 3, 2025. See more details about the film.
