According to Variety, Robbie made $50 million in salary and box office bonuses from ‘Barbie’. Robbie co-produced the film.
Robbie says Greta Gerwig “literally changed the game. From now on, it’s different because of what she did.” Robbie added, “Someone will come up with another original idea that requires a big budget, with a female protagonist, and point to Barbie and say, ‘But, that movie made money.’ And the studios are going to say, ‘Oh, right, we can greenlight this.’”
Robbie predicted that ‘Barbie’ would earn $1 billion in her pitch. During an interview with Collider, Robbie said that in her pitch during the green-light meeting, she highlighted how studios thrive by combining bold concepts with visionary directors like Gerwig. She told Mattel that the movie could make a billion dollars, though she acknowledges she might have been overselling it.
Recently, Robbie was spotted at the 2023 Variety Power Of Women at Mother Wolf in Los Angeles, California.
