Universal/Illumination released a brief trailer for their short film “Mooned,” set to return to theaters on December 22, 2023, during “Migration” screenings. As a strategy to boost an original kids’ movie opening, they’ve linked it with the Despicable Me franchise. “Mooned” features Vector, the villain from the first Despicable Me movie, voiced by Jason Segel, stranded on the Moon after Gru’s actions in the first film.
This short follows up and answers the questions of – what Vector has been doing up there? It’s only 8 minutes, and 50 seconds long, and features the voice of Pierre Coffin as the Minions also stuck there with him. It’s only showing in front of Migration before it’s available for streaming sometime next year. Will he find his way off the Moon?
“Mooned” is a short animated film by Illumination/Universal Pictures and Illumination Studios Paris. It will be shown before the release of “Migration” in theaters this fall. Writer and director credits are yet to be announced.
