The last installment in the Fast & Furious series, ‘Fast & Furious 11,’ is set to return “back to the basics” with a reported budget of $200M or less, offering a nostalgic throwback to the franchise’s first film.
Why is Universal Reducing the Budget for ‘Fast 11’?
According to Jeff Sneider’s newsletter, Universal plans to get back to basics with ‘Fast & Furious 11.’ Sneider mentions the studio’s goal to make the eleventh film more cost-effective after the high budget of ‘Fast X,’ which reached $340 million. This shift aims to streamline production costs, and except for ‘Avatar 2,’ there might not have been a film with a higher budget this decade.
‘Fast 11’ will have a budget of less than $200 million. The film aims for simplicity by reducing global locations and focusing on a single heist or race in the plot. This shift is seen as a needed change for the franchise, moving away from the trend of always trying to make each new movie bigger and better.
Directed by Louis Leterrier from a screenplay by Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel. The film is produced by Universal Pictures.
The film stars an ensemble cast, featuring Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Ludacris as Tej Parker, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, Sung Kang as Han Seoul-Oh, Charlize Theron as Cipher, Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw, Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs, Jason Momoa as Dante Reyes, Brie Larson as Tess, Daniela Melchior as Isabel Neves, and Gal Gadot as Gisele Yashar. Additionally, more cast members will be announced soon.
The ending of ‘Fast X’ includes a major cliffhanger, which will be revealed in the final part. To find out if Dom’s family is alive in ‘Fast X,’ you will have to wait until 2025. Read our review.
