Hunter Schafer wore Maison Margiela SS24 Couture to the premiere of ‘Cuckoo‘ at the ‘A Different Man‘ premiere during the 74th Berlinale International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany, on February 16, 2024.
According to Vogue Spain, Schafer wore look 7 from Maison Margiela’s highly anticipated spring-summer 2024 Haute Couture collection for this event. Designed by John Galliano, this collection garnered significant attention for its exploration of doll-like concepts and extreme femininity, as well as the mannequin-inspired skins and makeup created by artist Pat McGrath.
‘Cuckoo,’ starring Schafer, is based on the lore of the cuckoo bird, some of which are brood parasites — they lay their eggs in the nests of other species.
“It’s really a freaky thing… birds are just out here being complete d–ks to other birds and giving them their own babies to raise. Are you kidding? That’s psycho!” Schafer says.
Directed by Tilman Singer, the film stars Schafer as Gretchen, Dan Stevens as Mr. König, Jessica Henwick as Beth, Jan Bluthardt as Henry, Marton Csokas as Luis, Greta Fernández as Trixie, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey as Ed, Konrad Singer as Erik, Proschat Madani as Dr. Bonomo, and Kalin Morrow as The Hooded Woman.
‘Cuckoo’ is scheduled to be released in the United States by Neon on May 3, 2024, and in Germany on July 18, 2024.
