The Spider-Man spin-off universe from Sony is officially dead.
According to The Wrap, Kraven the Hunter will be the last film “for now,” as there are no plans for additional spin-offs. The film will also not include any post-credits scenes.
Moving forward, Sony will focus on Spider-Man-related projects, including Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, and the Spider-Man: Noir series.
Apart from the Venom film series, Sony had a huge loss with Morbius and Madame Web at the box office. Kraven the Hunter will be the last hope for the SSU. Director J.C. Chandor is also confident in the film, as he wants to complete Kraven’s story with Kraven’s Last Hunt.
In Kraven the Hunter, Kraven (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is recruited by Calypso (Ariana DeBose) to stop a corrupt magnate named Gregory Herd (Alessandro Nivola) from doing something bad called the Gathering of the Five. Herd hires two people, the Foreigner and the Chameleon (Fred Hechinger), to stop Kraven. Later, Kraven finds out that the Chameleon is his brother, and their father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), is the real villain and Herd’s boss. Calypso also works for Nikolai and tricks Kraven so that Nikolai can sacrifice him. But then Calypso falls in love with Kraven and helps him fight Nikolai.
Kraven the Hunter will hit theaters on December 13, 2024.
