Cody Walker, Paul Walker’s brother, does not want to return as a body double for Brian O’Conner in the final Fast & Furious movie. Instead, the late actor could appear in Fast Forever using AI technology. Walker suggested that the studio could use AI to recreate Paul’s Brian in the movie.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cody said any decision to bring Brian back in Fast Forever should depend on Paul Walker’s daughter, Meadow Walker, because “it’s her father.” If Brian returns, Cody said he and Caleb would not be needed for the role. Cody said that AI could be used to bring Paul Walker’s Brian back, as the technology was not available when Furious 7 was completed.
Cody also pointed out that there are years of unused footage of Paul Walker from previous Fast & Furious films that could potentially be used.
He said, “My stance is, it’s what Meadow wants to see done; it’s her father.” He added, “I would not be interested in doing that again. I love the way his character exited the franchise. They didn’t kill him off, they didn’t do something cheesy like that. It’s beautiful, [Brian] is off raising his kids. But if they want to do that, if Meadow would like to see that, they don’t need me or Caleb. AI was not a thing back in 2014, so they could do that. There’s years of footage that was never used from these other Fast films. They’re the best in the business, they can figure that out.”
Brian O’Conner has remained part of the Fast & Furious universe through small references, despite not appearing on screen since Furious 7. In 2025, Vin Diesel raised hopes for Brian’s return when he revealed at Cody Walker’s Fuel Fest that reuniting Dom and Brian was one of his conditions for the franchise’s finale.
Diesel said, “The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast & Furious in April 2027?’” Diesel added, “I said, ‘Under three conditions.’ The first is to bring the franchise back to L.A. The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing. The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner. That is what you’re going to get in the finale.”
Fast Forever is based on a screenplay by Michael Lesslie, who completed a rewrite of an earlier draft from Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean. The sequel follows Fast X, which grossed $704 million globally and concluded with the surprise returns of Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson.
Recently, on Instagram, Diesel shared with Fast & Furious fans that he had read the screenplay for Fast Forever, and it brought him to tears.
“I just read the Fast Forever script by Michael Lesslie. It is the best script I have read in decades,” Diesel said. “I am still crying…”
Fast Forever is scheduled to hit theaters on March 17, 2028.
