A24 has acquired the domestic rights to the gothic horror-thriller Victorian Psycho. Margaret Qualley (The Substance) will star in the lead role alongside Thomasin McKenzie (Leave No Trace). Filming is scheduled to begin in March 2025.
According to Deadline, the film will be directed by Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary) and is based on a script by Virginia Feito, author of the upcoming novel Mrs. March. The screenplay is adapted from Feito’s novel of the same name.
What is the Plot of Victorian Psycho?
Victorian Psycho is: “Set in Victorian England, the film sees an eccentric governess arrive at a remote gothic manor—where strange happenings stir suspicion—that she’s not what she seems.”
The project attracted major interest from multiple U.S. buyers—prior to the American Film Market (AFM).
The film is produced by Dan Kagan (Longlegs) under his Traffic banner, alongside Sebastien Raybaud (Greenland) and Zachary Wigon, in association with Anonymous Content. Nick Shumaker and Bard Dorros will serve as executive producers.
Victorian Psycho marks the second collaboration between Zachary Wigon and Margaret Qualley, following their work on Wigon’s dominatrix thriller Sanctuary, which premiered at TIFF in 2022.
Victorian Psycho is set to hit theaters in 2025.
