Filming for Travis Knight‘s live-action Masters of the Universe movie officially began in London, UK, on January 6, 2024, as confirmed by IMDbPro.
Developed by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, the film stars Nicholas Galitzine as the iconic lead character He-Man, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson as Goat Man, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops.
In an interview with W Magazine, Galitzine spoke about the intense preparation for his role as He-Man. He joked, saying, “No pressure, I just have to embody the strongest man in the universe.” He also said that he is eating a lot of food, weightlifting, and performing stunts.
He shared that he’s eating about 4,000 calories a day due to his physical regimen, adding, “With all the physical work I’m doing, you end up hungry at the end of the day, which is quite surprising. This is the fun part.”
Directed by Knight from a screenplay by Chris Butler. The film is produced by Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch, along with Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner.
Here’s the plot synopsis for Masters of the Universe:
