Alan Cumming, who returns as the X-Men’s Nightcrawler, accidentally revealed that he will be fighting Pedro Pascal‘s Reed Richards in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.
In a recent interview with BuzzFeed UK, Cumming shared a surprising detail about his role as Nightcrawler in Avengers: Doomsday. He revealed that he has been learning fight choreography for the movie and, during rehearsals, was surprised to find out who he would be fighting. He said, “You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,” revealing a fight scene between Nightcrawler and Pascal’s Reed Richards.
Cumming said, “I’m sort of learning these fights and I’m like, ‘What, who am I fighting with?’ [They’re like,] ‘You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head.’”
An insider report recently confirmed that the Russo brothers are currently filming a fight scene between Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) for Avengers: Doomsday.
The X-Men will play an important role in Doomsday, with the first scenes being filmed at the X-Mansion and the characters wearing comic-accurate suits. Marvel Studios has confirmed that several X-Men actors will return in Avengers: Doomsday, including McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), James Marsden (Cyclops), Channing Tatum (Gambit), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), and Cumming (Nightcrawler).
Marvel President Kevin Feige revealed at CinemaCon 2025 that Avengers: Doomsday will focus on the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, the New Avengers (Thunderbolts), and the original X-Men all uniting to fight Doctor Doom.
Directed by Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator, Stephen McFeely. Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) will be the cinematographer.
