Denzel Washington will be joining the MCU with the new Black Panther movie.
Ryan Coogler, the director of the Black Panther films, has confirmed that Washington will have a role in Black Panther 3.
Speaking on the 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony podcast, Coogler revealed that he’s writing a very specific role for The Equalizer star, saying, “There’s no fiction out there about that.”
Coogler said, “Denzel is family at this point.” He added, “I’ve been trying to work with him since day one. I think he’s the greatest living actor. In terms of what he means to our culture? Forget about it, man.”
Recently, industry insider Daniel Richtman revealed that Marvel Studios plans to release Black Panther 3 in theaters in February 2028.
During the Nightcap podcast with Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Coogler said that he wants to work with Washington in Black Panther 3 and hopes to work out a deal.
He said, “I’m dying to work with Denzel, and I’m hoping we can make that happen. I’ve got every intention of working with him in that movie, and as long as he’s interested — it’s going to happen.”

During the 2023 Golden Globes, Letitia Wright told Variety that Black Panther 3 is already in development.
Wright said, “I think it’s already in the works… It’s gonna take a while, but I’m really excited for you guys to see it.”
According to Marvel scooper MyTimeToShineHello, a second Black Panther will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Wright is the current Black Panther in the MCU, and the second Black Panther will come from the X-Men universe in Doomsday.
There are also strong rumors that Damson Idris will be recast as the new T’Challa. (Note: This rumor has not been confirmed.)
