“Millions hunt. One runs. Everyone watches.”
Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Edgar Wright‘s The Running Man, starring Glen Powell as Ben Richards — a working-class man who volunteers to join a TV game show where he will be hunted by professional killers. Watch the trailer below.
Here’s the plot details for The Running Man:
In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television — a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive for 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins. Every move is broadcast to a bloodthirsty public, with each day bringing a greater cash reward.
Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite — and a threat to the entire system.

Directed by Wright from a screenplay he co-wrote with Michael Bacall, the film is based on the 1982 novel by Stephen King. Set in 2025, The Running Man features a game show where contestants are chased by murderous Hunters across the globe in a bid to win money.
In the film, Powell stars as Ben Richards, alongside Brolin as Dan Killian, the show’s producer; Colman Domingo as Bobby Thompson, the host of The Running Man; Lee Pace as Evan McCone, a hunter; Jayme Lawson as Sheila Richards, Ben’s wife; Michael Cera as Bradley Throckmorton, a rebel who helps Ben; Emilia Jones as Amelia Williams, a civilian taken hostage by Richards; William H. Macy as a man who assists Ben while he’s on the run; David Zayas as Richard Manuel; Katy O’Brian and Daniel Ezra as contestants; Karl Glusman as another hunter; and Sean Hayes in an undisclosed role.
Produced by Wright, Nira Park, and Simon Kinberg, with production companies including Genre Films and Complete Fiction.
The Running Man will hit theaters on November 7, 2025, by Paramount Pictures.
