(Warning: This post contains potential spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.)
Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday new plot details reveal how Earth-616 comes face to face with the Earth-10005 X-Men Universe, as Shuri (Letitia Wright) discovers the Incursions and alerts the Avengers.
According to insider James Mack, who previously leaked details about the Incursion in Doomsday, new information reveals that Shuri is the one who discovers the Incursions. While detecting anomalies in the fabric of reality and investigating the multiverse, she realizes that different universes are colliding with each other. Using a hologram (similar to the one in the Shang-Chi post-credits scene), she shares her findings with Sam Wilson, Wong, Bruce Banner, and Carol Danvers, warning them about the imminent threat.
Meanwhile, the events of the Fantastic Four’s arrival on Earth-616 take place. The Thunderbolts/New Avengers are the first to encounter them. Reed Richards reveals that Doctor Doom has kidnapped his son, Franklin, and also mentions Galactus, who previously tried to capture Franklin because of his immeasurable powers. Bucky, unsure how to handle the situation with Doom, goes to seek advice from Sam.
Later in the story, Shuri gathers Sam, Wong, Banner, and Carol in person in Wakanda. In a large meeting room, Thor, Bucky, Yelena, M’Baku, Namor, and the Fantastic Four are also present. Shuri reveals that a specific universe is dangerously approaching Earth-616. During the conversation and while analyzing the situation, she detects the energy signature of someone from Earth-616 trapped in the approaching universe. Carol deduces it’s Monica Rambeau and becomes even more motivated for the mission.
At the same time, Reed Richards uses Wakandan technology to track Franklin and discovers that he, too, is in this parallel universe, and he also deduces that Doctor Doom is there with him.
Thus, they come up with a plan with three objectives: to stop the Incursion and save Earth-616, to rescue Monica Rambeau, and to defeat Doctor Doom by saving Franklin Richards. To open a portal to this parallel universe, Wong calls America Chavez—her only role in the film. Everyone unites for this mission: the Avengers led by Sam, part of the Thunderbolts/New Avengers (not all of them), the Fantastic Four, Shuri, M’Baku, and Namor. Wong stays behind on Earth. From that point on, it’s Earth-616 versus the Earth where the X-Men reside, and they soon discover that it’s all part of an even bigger plan involving Doctor Doom, the TVA, and Loki.
Sam Wilson, Thor, Captain Marvel, Shang-Chi, Ant-Man (Scott Lang), Jennifer Walters, Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Bob, Bruce Banner, Shuri, M’Baku, Namor, and the Fantastic Four are tasked with resolving the incursion between the two worlds, rescuing Monica, and protecting Loki at the Citadel. Meanwhile, John Walker, Ghost, and Red Guardian remain on Earth-616—alongside other Avengers—to protect the planet from an unknown invasion. The remaining Thunderbolts unite with Wakanda, Talokan, and the sorcerers led by Wong to help defend Earth.
Directed by Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator, Stephen McFeely. Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) will be the cinematographer.
