Warning: This post contains spoilers for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie starring Tom Holland will be “like a comic book brought to life.”

According to Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly open with a montage of Spider-Man fighting various villains (Scorpion, Tarantula, Boomerang, Ramrod, Tombstone) over the years since Spider-Man: No Way Home. With each battle, Peter Parker upgrades his suit, leading to the version we see in the film.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton takes inspiration from The Animated Series for Brand New Day, mostly in tone and vibe.

Post-No Way Home, everyone remembers Spider-Man, but Peter Parker is forgotten by everyone. His new journey begins from a place of isolation: “He has nothing left, except Spider-Man.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly open with a montage of Spider-Man battling villains like Scorpion, Tarantula, and Tombstone since No Way Home, showing Peter Parker upgrading his suit with each fight.

Sadie Sink‘s character is said to be an ally of Peter Parker, not Spider-Man, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Meanwhile, Michael Mando‘s Scorpion is reportedly set to resemble the version from Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man—a mix of the classic comic style and Insomniac’s metallic armor look.

The main villain is reportedly not Mister Negative, but an Asian-inspired samurai-style villain may appear instead. Across the trilogy, Venom, Prowler, Tombstone, Hammerhead, and Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) are said to be among the villains lined up.

Filming in Glasgow has recently wrapped, with scenes showing The Punisher chasing Scorpion, while Spider-Man tries to stop him from killing his target. The next scheduled shoot is a major Spider-Man vs. Scorpion fight at Pinewood Studios this September.

Daniel Cretton is directing the film from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sink joins the cast alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas has also been cast in an undisclosed role, while Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Here’s the new synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:

After the world has forgotten his name, Peter Parker (Holland) begins a new chapter in his life — balancing college classes, part-time work, and his responsibility as New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. But when a mysterious force begins to unravel the city from the inside out, Peter finds himself caught between powerful enemies, old legacies, and unexpected allies. As shadows from the past creep into his present, he must redefine what it truly means to be a hero — on his own.

In a recent interview with Collider, Marvel President Kevin Feige revealed that Peter Parker will be dealing with “street-level crime” in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Feige said, “I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home — that, for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing, for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories, him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of a better term — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events.”

The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
