Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast addition is growing day by day as production is underway.
According to insider Daniel Richtman on X, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova has reportedly joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film now has MCU heroes Spider-Man, Punisher, Hulk, and Yelena.

Back in 2021, during the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland told Entertainment Tonight about wanting to work with Florence Pugh. Holland said, “I think she’s amazing. She’s so good in [Black Widow] and all the movies that she’s done… A really cool Spider-Man/Black Widow movie would be a fun little twist.”
Pugh’s Yelena Belova is the adopted sister of Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), who first appeared in the 2021 Black Widow movie, followed by the Disney+ series Hawkeye in the same year. Most recently, Yelena appeared in the Thunderbolts* movie. She is also cast in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
The filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in Glasgow has recently wrapped, and the next schedule is set to begin at Pinewood Studios this September.
In a recent report from Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly open with a montage of Spider-Man fighting various villains (Scorpion, Tarantula, Boomerang, Ramrod, Tombstone) over the years since Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film is said to take inspiration from The Animated Series for Brand New Day, mostly in tone and vibe.

Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the film from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas has also been cast in an undisclosed role, while Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Here’s the new synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the world has forgotten his name, Peter Parker (Holland) begins a new chapter in his life — balancing college classes, part-time work, and his responsibility as New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. But when a mysterious force begins to unravel the city from the inside out, Peter finds himself caught between powerful enemies, old legacies, and unexpected allies. As shadows from the past creep into his present, he must redefine what it truly means to be a hero — on his own.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
