Mark Ruffalo has begun filming for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
According to insider DanielRPK, in his exclusive scoop, Ruffalo has reportedly started doing motion capture scenes for his role as the Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film will feature “Spider-Man fighting the Hulk in the first act.” The Hollywood Reporter states, “Spider-Man, Punisher, and Hulk will all fight one another before discovering who the real villains are.”

The rumored reports are that Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/The Hulk will have a “substantial role” comparable to his appearance in Thor: Ragnarok.
There is also a leaked report that A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics), the criminal organization last seen in Iron Man 3, will be tampering with Bruce Banner’s mind to turn him into the Savage Hulk. Viper and Silver Samurai are also said to be part of their organization.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the film from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman have also been cast in undisclosed roles, while Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming. Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will appear in the movie.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day to Open with Villain Montage and Suit Upgrades

Recently, Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus) revealed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly open with a montage of Spider-Man fighting various villains (Scorpion, Tarantula, Boomerang, Ramrod, Tombstone) over the years since Spider-Man: No Way Home. With each battle, Peter Parker upgrades his suit, leading to the version we see in the film.
In a recent interview with Collider, Marvel President Kevin Feige revealed that Peter Parker will be dealing with “street-level crime” in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Feige said, “I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home that, as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man—being on his own, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with, for lack of a better term, street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events.”
Here’s the new synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the world has forgotten his name, Peter Parker (Holland) begins a new chapter in his life — balancing college classes, part-time work, and his responsibility as New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. But when a mysterious force begins to unravel the city from the inside out, Peter finds himself caught between powerful enemies, old legacies, and unexpected allies. As shadows from the past creep into his present, he must redefine what it truly means to be a hero — on his own.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
