Marvel’s Hawkeye Season 2 is finally moving to production after four years since the premiere of Season 1.
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the plot details for Hawkeye Season 2 have been revealed. It is reported that in Season 2, “Clint’s brother, Barney Barton, will play a major role, and the season will be inspired by The Raid, with Kate Bishop and Clint stuck in one location, fending off hordes of assassins.”
Insider Daniel Richtman has already reported that “Hawkeye Season 2 is reportedly a Die Hard-inspired adventure.” Season 2 will also take place during Christmas, just like Season 1. The main villain will be Clint’s brother, Barney.
In Marvel Comics, Barney Barton is the older brother of Clint Barton (Hawkeye). The two grew up together but took very different paths — while Clint became a hero, Barney turned to crime. Like his brother, he was trained in archery and later became a villain known as Trickshot. Over the years, he worked with various criminals and clashed with Clint many times. In some storylines, Barney is badly injured but later saved and given superpowers, after which he joins a group of villains and continues to battle Hawkeye.
Speaking on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, Jeremy Renner revealed that discussions for Hawkeye Season 2 are ongoing. He said he feels confident about making it happen now that he’s fully recovered from his near-fatal snowplow accident and Mayor of Kingstown is heading into its fourth season.
“We’re trying to get the second season going,” Renner said. “I think I’ll be strong enough to do it, and we’ll work it out. It’s going to be great.”
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Jeremy Renner said the idea for Hawkeye Season 2 was to “continue that narrative” from Season 1 and maintain the “Christmas framework.”
Renner said, “For a second season, that was always the idea — to continue that narrative, even in the Christmas framework of it all, too, because they love that world in New York.” Renner added, “There’s really no more beautiful place than New York until Christmas. After Christmas, it’s kind of bleak.”
Hawkeye Season 1 Synopsis: Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission — to get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero.
