The filming for Marvel Studios’ Black Panther 3 is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026, in the United Kingdom, as confirmed by Production List.
According to the listing, the title for Black Panther 3 is Shadows of Wakanda, which follows Wakanda’s vulnerability after T’Challa’s death, with Shuri stepping up as both a warrior and a leader. It is not yet clear whether the film takes place after the events of Avengers: Doomsday or before them.
There are strong rumors that Damson Idris is playing the new Black Panther in the MCU. Speaking with Variety on the Golden Globes red carpet, Idris was asked about rumors of him taking over the role of Black Panther.
Idris said, “I am thankful to the fans.” He added, “Of course it’s a rumor, but I love that movie. I love the world. I’m glad that everyone is seeing the future of that too. It’s moving in a brilliant direction, and I’m excited for the third one.”

Speaking to ScreenRant, Letitia Wright said, “I’m patiently waiting to hear from my director about anything related to the next Black Panther film. For now, working on Doomsday was really, really fun.”
During Happy Sad Confused, Ryan Coogler opened up about Black Panther 3.
Coogler said, “It’s a movie I’m incredibly excited about. That’s really the truth of it. I did get a chance to move through an inescapable human emotion that is like the emotion of grief [with Wakanda Forever].”

It is reported that Ryan Coogler is interested in leaning into a more horror, supernatural, and thriller tone for Black Panther 3.
Recently, in a podcast, Coogler revealed that he’s writing a very specific role for Denzel Washington.
Coogler said, “Denzel is family at this point.” He added, “I’ve been trying to work with him since day one. I think he’s the greatest living actor. In terms of what he means to our culture — forget about it, man.”
The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Nate Moore.
Black Panther 3 (Shadows of Wakanda) will hit theaters in 2028.
