The filming for Greta Gerwig‘s The Chronicles of Narnia (The Magician’s Nephew) has wrapped and the project has entered post-production, following a six-month shoot that began in August 2025 in London.
The production spanned three studio locations, Shepperton, Longcross, and Cardington, along with multiple real-world filming locations across London, Manchester, and Bradford. Visual effects work is underway at Framestore and Weta, while Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt are collaborating on the film’s musical score.
Written and directed by Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Gerwig (Barbie, Little Women), the film is based on the 1955 novel The Magician’s Nephew, the sixth published and first chronological book in The Chronicles of Narnia series by C. S. Lewis.
First published in 1955, The Magician’s Nephew explores the origins of Narnia, Aslan, the White Witch, and the mystical wardrobe that later plays a central role in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The story follows young Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, who stumble upon a mysterious set of magic rings—created by Digory’s uncle—that transport them to the Wood Between the Worlds, a realm of infinite possibilities where they inadvertently awaken Jadis, the future White Witch, from the dying world of Charn.
During the production in London, some leaked set images surfaced online, showing the post-war 1950s locations. See the images below.
