The filming start dates for DC’s Man of Tomorrow and The Batman Part II, directed by Matt Reeves, have been confirmed. Both movies are planned for release in 2027. However, they belong to different universes, with one set in the DC Universe and the other in Batman’s “Crime Saga.”
According to Page Six, they follow up this year’s filming schedule. Man of Tomorrow will begin filming on April 17 in Atlanta, Georgia, while The Batman Part II is set to begin filming on May 29 in London.

“Regardless, it appears to be business as usual at Warner Bros., as a number of massive-budget movies head toward production, including The Batman II and a Minecraft sequel. Sources tell P6H that James Gunn‘s Superman sequel will begin shooting on April 17 in Atlanta, while the next Minecraft film is on track for a May 1 start date in New Zealand. Also fully cast and ready to go is the Robert Pattinson Batman follow-up, which will start production on May 29 in London, sources say. There is also a $90 million untitled Nancy Meyers romantic comedy that will begin shooting in May.”
Gunn will write, direct, and produce Man of Tomorrow, with Peter Safran co-producing for DC Studios. The film is a sequel to Superman, follows Peacemaker Season 2, and will be the fourth DC Universe movie in Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
The film stars David Corenswet as Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Lars Eidinger as Vril Dox/Brainiac, and Trevor Newlin as Mister Handsome.
Speaking to the Stern Show, Gunn said Man of Tomorrow is as much a Lex Luthor movie as it is a Superman movie. “It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie. I loved working with Nicholas Hoult. I relate to the character of Lex, sadly. I really wanted to create something extraordinary with the two of them. I just love the script so much.”
In The Batman: Part II, Robert Pattinson reprises his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, joined by returning cast members including Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, Scarlett Johansson as Gilda Gold, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, and Barry Keoghan, who is expected to return as the Joker. Reeves will direct and co-write the script with Mattson Tomlin.
Man of Tomorrow will be released in theaters on July 9, 2027, while The Batman Part II will hit theaters on October 1, 2027, both distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
