The next Deadpool movie will reportedly be a team-up film set in the MCU, where Deadpool may appear alongside other mutants.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Ryan Reynolds is reportedly working to bring Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, along with Cable and Storm, into the upcoming Deadpool team-up movie.
During an appearance on Sunday Sitdown Live, Reynolds opened up about the future of Deadpool. He confirmed that he already has some ideas written for Deadpool’s future. Deadpool may no longer be the main focus of future projects, and Reynolds described the character as someone who is “great in a group.”
Reynolds said, “I have some stuff kind of written. But I don’t think I am ever going to center him again. I think he’s a supporting character. He’s a guy that is great in a group.”
THR previously revealed that Ryan Reynolds was working on a Deadpool & X-Men crossover project. The film would include three or four X-Men members, with Deadpool acting more as a supporting character. Reynolds reportedly feels this approach could open the door for new X-Men stories.
Speaking on the 101 WRIF Detroit podcast, T.J. Miller said he could still return as Weasel in a future Deadpool movie. He also shared that he recently spoke with Ryan Reynolds, who has a “really good” and “very smart” idea for the next film.
Miller said, “He [Ryan Reynolds] mentioned that the next Deadpool will be very different. I will also say that his idea for the next Deadpool film is really good. It’s really smart. He told me the idea, and I kind of got hair on the back of my neck standing up because I thought you couldn’t do something even more different than Deadpool & Wolverine. But I think he has.”
After Reynolds’ comments, the chances of Deadpool 4 seem very low. But Deadpool can still appear in future MCU movies. Marvel is currently making a new X-Men film with Jake Schreier directing. Because mutants will have a bigger role after Avengers: Secret Wars, Deadpool may be connected to the X-Men instead of getting another solo movie.
