Warning: This post contains spoilers for James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow.
David Corenswet‘s Superman is having a second round with Nicholas Hoult‘s Lex Luthor in the Superman sequel.
New leaked set images from James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow reveal Superman and Lex Luthor, in his Warsuit, engaged in a major fight while filming in Atlanta, Georgia.

Based on the leaked footage and images, Superman appears to have defeated Lex Luthor and brought the fight to an end. Meanwhile, the crowd can be heard chanting, “Kill him.”
On Threads, Gunn revealed that Man of Tomorrow takes place two years after Superman. He also confirmed that the Man of Tomorrow suit is not the same one seen in Superman.

Below, you can watch footage of Hoult’s stunt double in the Lex Luthor Warsuit flying through a hole in the wall.
In an interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio program, Gunn revealed that Man of Tomorrow is “a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together, to a certain degree, against a much, much bigger threat. It’s more complicated than that, but that’s a big part of it.“
Gunn described the film as “…as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie. I loved working with Nicholas Hoult. I relate to the character of Lex, sadly. I really wanted to create something extraordinary with the two of them. I just love the script so much.“
In Man of Tomorrow, Superman and Lex Luthor are set to team up as they face a new villain: Brainiac (Lars Eidinger).
Gunn is writing, directing, and producing the film, with Peter Safran serving as a producer for DC Studios. The movie is a sequel to Superman, follows Peacemaker Season 2, and will be the fourth DC Universe film in Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
The cast of Man of Tomorrow includes David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent (Kal-El), Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Aaron Pierre as Green Lantern (John Stewart), and Adria Arjona in a rumored role as either Maxima or Wonder Woman.
Man of Tomorrow will arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027.
