Principal photography began in Greece in March 2026 and, after two months of filming, officially wrapped in early June.
Here’s the plot details:
Set in the 1940s, the film follows a prison warden (Daniel Craig) who attempts to discipline a defiant inmate (Cillian Murphy) within a brutal correctional system. As tensions rise, their relationship evolves into a psychological duel. Michelle Williams portrays the warden’s wife, while Mia Threapleton plays the inmate’s girlfriend.
The film stars Daniel Craig as a prison warden, Cillian Murphy as an inmate, Michelle Williams as the warden’s wife, and Mia Threapleton as the inmate’s daughter.
According to World of Reel, the project is being made on a mid-budget scale. Justin Hurwitz, a frequent collaborator of Damien Chazelle, is composing the score, while Paramount Pictures will handle distribution. Despite the commercial disappointment of Babylon, Chazelle remains one of Hollywood’s most celebrated filmmakers, having won an Oscar for La La Land and directed acclaimed films such as Whiplash and First Man.
The film hits theaters on 2027, by Paramount Pictures.
