The Defenders are reportedly appearing in Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 with a “big role.” We have already seen multiple cast members, including Mike Colter, Finn Jones, and Krysten Ritter, on the New York City set.
While filming for Season 3 continues in NYC, new set footage has leaked online featuring a major action sequence. In the footage, Colter’s Luke Cage is spotted rehearsing a fight scene, throwing a stunt double across a rooftop. Crew members are also seen wearing Punisher and Daredevil shirts. Recently, Colter and Jones were spotted with Danielle Jones-Cage, the young daughter of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, on the set of Daredevil: Born Again on Randall’s Island in New York City. See the image below.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Dario Scardapane confirmed that Luke Cage will have a bigger role in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. Luke Cage and Jessica Jones’ relationship will become a major focus in the upcoming season.
Scardapane said, “The relationship between Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, we start that picture of those three people, that family, at the end of Episode 8 this season. The questions and the story that start there play into Season 3, absolutely.”
Scardapane on bringing back one of the Defenders in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2:
“Bringing Jessica Jones back was part of my original pitch when I joined Season 1. She needs to be in this world. Wilson Fisk has outlawed vigilantes, and there are three vigilantes in our street-level world who don’t wear masks, and she’s one of them. So, what does that mean when she’s the one being hunted?
There’s a seven-year period between when the Netflix show ended and ours begins, and we treat that in real time. So, during that time, people had lives, things happened to them, and in Season 2 we’ll get to see that with Jessica.”
