‘Fast Forever’ Director Louis Leterrier Hasn’t Read the Script That Made Vin Diesel Cry

Followed by Vin Diesel‘s comments on the Fast Forever final script, which made him cry, director Louis Leterrier revealed that he hasn’t read the script yet.

On Instagram, Vin Diesel shared the news with Fast & Furious fans that he had read the screenplay for Fast Forever, and it brought him to tears. “I just read the Fast Forever script by Michael Lesslie. It is the best script I have read in decades,” Diesel added. “I am still crying…”

Speaking to Polygon during a press tour for his upcoming Netflix film The Last House, Leterrier said he is still set to direct the Fast & Furious finale after spending the last three years working on other projects instead of immediately moving into the sequel, as was originally planned.

Leterrier said, “It’s like a combination of Fast not going… we were supposed to go straight into it, then the strike, me finding this script [for The Last House].”

Although Vin Diesel has praised the Fast Forever script, Leterrier said he hasn’t read it yet and hinted that there’s a reason he can’t explain.

“Well, uh, I’d love to tell you the full truth, but I can’t,” Leterrier said with a laugh. “There will be an ending, and it’s great. I was very, very lucky to be part of the franchise, and I love Vin, and I love Universal. They’re great to work with. So yeah, we’ll see. Hopefully.”

Fast Forever is based on a screenplay by Michael Lesslie, who completed a rewrite of an earlier draft from Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean. The sequel follows Fast X, which grossed $704 million globally and concluded with the surprise returns of Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson.

Last month, Vin Diesel reassured Fast & Furious fans that he is committed to delivering a satisfying ending to the $7 billion franchise. He said, “Over the past three and a half years, we’ve been grinding to try to make the most amazing finale.”

Fast Forever is scheduled to hit theaters on March 17, 2028.
