Warning: This post contains potential spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.
From the second trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, we got to know that Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom is from the Fantastic Four universe. Sue Storm says, “Victor was always the smartest guy in every room. He used to be different, used to be kind, used to be caring. And then, everything he loved was taken from him.”
At SDCC, the Russo Brothers, talking to Collider, described Doctor Doom as the smartest person in any room. Doom’s emotional trauma and painful past are major motivations for his actions. He has studied the dark arts, which give him powerful knowledge beyond his intelligence.
“He’s the smartest man in every room he walks into. He has a lot of emotional trauma in his past and that’s a very strong motivator for him. He’s studied quite a bit of the dark arts.”
Speaking to Good Morning America, Robert Downey Jr. says he prefers playing Doctor Doom over Iron Man.
“It was really weird being the guy that everyone else is hanging out with. They’re all the good heroes, and I’m in this mask and hood, and I’m like, ‘They’re all on one side of the camera, and I guess they’re all mad at me.’ I will say Doom for now.”
Recently, Marvel released a list of essential projects to watch before Avengers: Doomsday, including X-Men, X2, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Loki, Shang-Chi, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Captain America: Brave New World, Deadpool & Wolverine, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
