Netflix Reveals New Logo for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew and BTS Look

Netflix has officially revealed the first-look logo and behind-the-scenes images from Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, starring Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep, Emma Mackey, Ciarán Hinds, and more.

On X, Netflix’s official account shared the logo and BTS image and wrote, “Experience the creation of Narnia, as filmmaker Greta Gerwig brings to life C. S. Lewis’s beloved story The Magician’s Nephew for the first time. In theaters worldwide February 12, 2027.”

Written and directed by Gerwig, the fantasy adventure adapts The Magician’s Nephew, the sixth book in the series. The story takes place before The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and focuses on how Aslan created Narnia.

Here’s the official logline: “Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Greta Gerwig brings C. S. Lewis’s beloved story The Magician’s Nephew to the screen for the first time in a sweeping adventure that invites dreamers of all ages to experience the creation of Narnia.” 

The cast of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew includes David McKenna as Digory Kirke, Beatrice Campbell as Polly Plummer, Emma Mackey as Jadis, the future White Witch and last Queen of Charn, Carey Mulligan as Mabel Kirke, Digory’s mother, Daniel Craig as Andrew Ketterley, Digory’s uncle, Ciarán Hinds, Meryl Streep, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Denise Gough, Susan Wokoma, Tom Bonington as Mr. Potts, Ava Jager as Violet Plummer, Polly’s sister, Gerard Monaco, James Murray, and Samantha Spiro.

The filming began in August 2025 in London and was followed by a six-month shoot that spanned three studio locations — Shepperton, Longcross, and Cardington — along with multiple real-world filming locations across London, Manchester, and Bradford. Filming finally wrapped in February 2026.

In a recent interview with Tudum, Gerwig said, “Working with Netflix to bring this film to life has been extraordinary, and IMAX continues to be an incredible partner. I cannot wait for people to see the film in theaters on February 12 and on Netflix on April 2.”

She added, “I was a child when I first read The Magician’s Nephew, and I fell in love with the gorgeously improbable but completely brilliant concept of a cosmic lion singing the world of Narnia to life,” Gerwig continued. “I didn’t know that I would grow up to make films, but a universe built out of music is an idea that always lived in my heart. It is the honor of a lifetime to be asked to imagine it into being. Because of C. S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, I believed in magic and hidden worlds and adventure. I believed that anywhere could be enchanted and that anyone could be swept up into an epic. That wonder and awe was available to everyone, even ordinary people like me… It transformed me.”

First published in 1955, The Magician’s Nephew “shows how all the comings and goings between our own world and the land of Narnia first began,” as the novel’s opening lines read, and leads to the events of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which launched in 1950. The seven Narnia books have sold more than 120 million copies across 70 different countries worldwide and have been adapted into more than 60 different languages to date. 

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is produced by Mark Gordon, Amy Pascal, Vincent Sieber-Smith, and Gerwig, and executive produced by Patricia Whitcher and Douglas Gresham and Melvin Adams for the C. S. Lewis Estate. The film is co-produced by Christine Crais. Netflix will handle domestic distribution for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the film outside of North America.

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew will have IMAX previews on February 10, 2027, before its worldwide theatrical release on February 12, excluding France. The film will then begin streaming on Netflix on April 2.
