Marvel Studios’ Black Panther 3 may introduce one of Marvel’s most iconic hidden worlds to the MCU.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever explored Namor and his underwater kingdom, Talokan, more deeply, and the third Black Panther movie is set to introduce the Savage Land and its protector.
According to scooper James Mack, Marvel Studios will introduce Ka-Zar and the Savage Land in Black Panther 3. The plot is described as “a storyline involving a space-related crisis with aliens reaching Wakanda, where the introduction of the Savage Land, with T’Challa potentially encountering Ka-Zar.”
In Marvel Comics, the Savage Land is one of the most mysterious locations in the Marvel Universe. Hidden beneath the ice of Antarctica, this tropical jungle is home to dinosaurs, wild creatures, and ancient tribes.
Ka-Zar is the protector of the Savage Land. His real name is Kevin Plunder — a boy from a wealthy family in London whose father discovered the Savage Land before being killed by villains. Kevin was later rescued and raised by Zabu — a saber-toothed tiger. The tribes of the Savage Land eventually gave him the name Ka-Zar, meaning “Son of the Tiger.” Ka-Zar does not have magical powers, but he has incredible strength, speed, hunting abilities, survival skills, and intelligence — all of which help him protect the Savage Land from its many threats.
The scooper also reported (via Patreon) that Chris Pratt will return as Star-Lord in Avengers: Doomsday, while Sylvie, Mobius, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man will be on a mission to find Loki in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel’s new Black Panther, David Jonsson, will reportedly appear first in Avengers: Secret Wars before taking on a major role in Black Panther 3. Director Ryan Coogler confirmed at the Marvel SDCC panel that Jonsson will play T’Challa’s grown-up son. Letitia Wright and Winston Duke will also return as Shuri and M’Baku. Hannah Beachler is returning as the production designer for Black Panther 3 after previously working on Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Sinners.
The film will focus on the next generation of Wakanda as T’Challa’s son comes of age and takes on the mantle of Black Panther.
Most recently, Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus) shared an important piece of information, reporting that the relationship between Wakanda and Talokan is expected to be affected by the events of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel is also reportedly planning to feature Maya Boyd’s Storm in Black Panther 3.
Black Panther 3 is scheduled to be released exclusively in theaters on December 15, 2028.
