David Corenswet has shared a few updates on the upcoming DC’s Man of Tomorrow movie, where he will return as Superman, and discussed the tonal shift from the previous movie. He confirms that the characters will be more mature in the sequel and that the story will explore the characters more deeply. He also teased “all the crazy stuff” happening in the film.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Corenswet described the characters in Man of Tomorrow as being “a little more mature” and indicated that the story is going to “go a little bit deeper.”

He also opened up about the intense filming, especially his scenes with Nicholas Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor. Corenswet joked that fighting Luthor in his iconic War Suit will be difficult: “You’re going to be hard to fight. Like, I’m going to rip my knuckles up punching you.”
He said, “The Super is a little more mature. They go a little deeper. Not to mention all the plot’s wild twists, Nicholas in the war suit… It’s going to be tough to fight him. I’m going to bust my knuckles punching that armor.”
In a recent screen test, Man of Tomorrow’s tone was described as “much more mature, dense, and epic” than the first movie. The film features an action sequence where Lex Luthor gets involved in a prison fight, with Nicholas Hoult appearing shirtless and showing off Lex’s physique.

Brainiac’s visual design was described to me as “terrifying.” The villain’s appearance will be capable of conveying a sense of fear to the general audience.
Speaking to Variety, director James Gunn says Man of Tomorrow is, at its core, about Clark Kent and Lex Luthor. He describes Clark and Lex as “two sides of me.”
Gunn said, “At its core, it’s about Clark and Lex. I relate to both of them. I relate to Lex’s ambition and obsession — minus the murder. And I relate to Superman’s belief in people, his Midwestern values. They’re two sides of me.”
The film is written and directed by James Gunn. It will be the fourth film in the DC Universe (DCU) and a follow-up to Superman (2025). In the film, Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) reluctantly team up to face a greater threat: the superintelligent alien android Brainiac (Lars Eidinger).
