Warning: This post contains potential spoilers for DC’s Clayface.
The makers of DC’s Clayface have reportedly avoided revealing the character’s final monster form in trailers and teasers to save the major reveal for audiences watching the film in theaters.
Following a secret horror screening of Clayface in the UK, the character’s final monster form has reportedly leaked online. However, viewers were only able to see the form for about 30 seconds.
Although the film has received mixed reactions from screening attendees, the official review embargo lifts on October 21, 2026, at 12:00 PM PDT. According to one viewer’s review, “Clayface is gnarly as hell. Much like the villain himself, the film is part body horror, part comic book movie, and part crime drama.“

Clayface Early Reviews:
According to Josh Wilding of ComicBookMovie.com, “Clayface is uninspired and unoriginal. Outside of a great nightclub sequence, it’s neither a good horror movie (body horror is ruined by bad VFX) nor a good comic book movie (Gotham has no personality). Tom Rhys Harries is great, but that’s about it. Even Clayface looks bad.”
According to Josh Barton’s review, “Clayface is plagued by subpar dialogue and what feels like a battle within to settle on a tone. There’s some great body horror, though, and the film really does lean hard into the violence to warrant its rating. Tom Rhys Harries also brings real humanity to the iconic villain, but it’s not enough to elevate the film. Not the game-changing facelift you’d expect for the world of comic book movies, that’s for sure.”

Here’s the synopsis for Clayface:
Once the world’s most beloved actor, Matt Hagen’s (Tom Rhys Harries) glamorous life is shattered when a forbidden affair with a Gotham City mob boss’s wife leads to his brutal disfigurement. Desperate to reclaim his shattered identity and his prized looks, Matt turns to a mysterious female doctor who administers an experimental underground drug. However, the miracle cure comes with a horrifying price: Triggered by deep sorrow, trauma, and fits of rage, Matt’s face begins to melt, slowly transforming him into a monstrous entity.
Now a fugitive hunted by the government after taking violent revenge on the mobsters who ruined his life, Matt’s grip on sanity begins to slip. He forms a twisted, obsessive bond with the doctor who treated him, eliminating anyone who stands in their way—including her husband. As she realizes the horrifying consequences of her experiment and attempts to stop him once and for all, Matt survives, setting the stage for a dark, tragic psychological thriller about vanity, heartbreak, and deadly obsession.
