‘Poor Things’ is directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, known for his unique and distinctive style, with a screenplay penned by Tony McNamara. The film is based on the 1992 novel of the same name written by Alasdair Gray, a renowned Scottish author. The film stars Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott, Margaret Qualley, and Kathryn Hunter.
The plot follows: Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by a brilliant and unorthodox scientist. Under the scientist’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she lacks, Bella runs off on a whirlwind adventure across the continents.
Poor Things hits theaters on September 8, 2023, by Searchlight Pictures.
