Aaron Pierre is joining the cast of James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pierre will return as John Stewart / Green Lantern in Man of Tomorrow, following the release of HBO’s upcoming series Lanterns in August 2026. It is not yet confirmed whether Pierre’s John Stewart will have a major role or just a cameo in the film.

Pierre’s John Stewart is part of James Gunn’s plan to connect DC movies and TV shows into one shared universe. Stewart, a member of the Green Lantern Corps, fits naturally into the story since both Superman and Brainiac are alien characters.
Man of Tomorrow is set to begin filming on April 17, 2026 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Returning cast from Superman for Man of Tomorrow:

- Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl)
- María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer)
- Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.)
New cast members:

Gunn will write, direct, and produce Man of Tomorrow, with Peter Safran co-producing for DC Studios. The film is a sequel to Superman, follows Peacemaker Season 2, and will be the fourth DC Universe movie in Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
Speaking on The Ringer-Verse podcast, Gunn said Man of Tomorrow will have a different tone from Superman.
Gunn said, “Superman is more comic-booky in some ways than Man of Tomorrow. It has to do with the dual characters of Lex and Superman at the center,” he added. “I think I’m more interested in getting into the heart of Lex and seeing how he fits into all of this. I think it’s about getting to know more of Lex as a human being. We saw a lot of the evil side of Lex—he’s pretty evil—but as a character, he’s really interesting. Despite everything, there’s something incredibly heroic about Lex.”
Man of Tomorrow will be released in theaters on July 9, 2027.
