Amanda Seyfried has shared her thoughts on a potential strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA). Seyfried believes that compensation for work in the entertainment industry has changed with the advent of streaming and that everyone should be fairly compensated for their work.
Speaking to Variety during the Met Gala 2023, Seyfried said, “My writer friends think it’s going to happen.” She added, “Everything changed with streaming, and everyone should be compensated for their work. It’s f-**ing easy.”
Seth Meyers told a late-night talk show that “I am deeply proud of the fact that I get to be a professional writer.” He said this before mentioning that if the Writers Guild of America doesn’t reach an agreement by midnight on Monday, May 1, members would go on strike. “If a writers’ strike happens, that would shut down production on a great many shows.” (Via Deadline)
