Marvel is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit from artist Darius Alas, who alleges that the company copied his artwork for use in the poster of the ‘Werewolf by Night‘ series. He’s asking for money, to stop them from using his art, and to cover his legal fees.
According to the Complaint Document, Alas, an artist specializing in two-dimensional digital graphic art and designs, seeks redress for copyright infringement perpetrated by The Walt Disney Company through its subsidiary, Marvel Entertainment LLC.
Alas alleges that Marvel unlawfully used his original artwork in the promotion of their ‘Werewolf by Night’ series. As a remedy, Alas demands injunctive relief, disgorgement of profits, statutory damages, reimbursement of legal fees, and further legal and equitable relief as deemed appropriate by the court.
