The new official synopsis for Avengers: Doomsday confirms that three worlds will collide, and the crossover appears to be one of Marvel’s biggest multiversal events to date.
Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom is confirmed to be the existential threat described as “unlike anything they’ve ever encountered before.“
Here’s the official synopsis for Avengers: Doomsday:
“Beloved heroes from three distinct universes (Earth-616, Earth-828, and Earth-10005) will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.”
The artwork below teases the scale of Avengers: Doomsday, with the symbols of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men colliding, hinting at the looming multiversal Incursion.
Marvel Studios has not yet released the official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and has successfully kept Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom out of the leaks so far. It has been reported that the studio plans to screen the Avengers: Doomsday trailer exclusively at SDCC before releasing it in theaters alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

In an interview with Deadline, director Joe Russo confirmed that work on Avengers: Doomsday is still ongoing, with post-production and final adjustments currently underway.
Joe Russo said, “We are doing some work still on Doomsday and will be until probably they rip it out of our hands in November… We’re in the middle of what we would call pre-production on Secret Wars.”
During SXSW London, Downey Jr. reassured fans about Avengers: Doomsday and the team’s approach to the highly anticipated Marvel film.
“What we’ve been laboring so hard and long over [the past year] is… we can’t beat it and we can’t stand on the shoulders of these two giants of Infinity War and Endgame, so we’re literally zeroing out the board.
We’re going to try and earn your trust and respect all over again. And with the likes of these fellas, I think we have a pretty good shot.”
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron.
