Warning: This post contains spoilers for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Hulk is confirmed to be back in his Savage form in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The newly leaked Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer reportedly reveals the first look at Bruce Banner’s transformation into Savage Hulk inside a DODC facility. See it below.
The footage suggests that after Sadie Sink‘s Jean Grey uses her telepathic abilities to influence him, Bruce begins losing control. Hulk then emerges in his Grey form, growing to an enormous size as Peter Parker watches in terror.
Also, Sadie’s character uses her power to freeze everyone except Spider-Man in New York City.
The transformation begins with a terrifying roar before Hulk turns toward Spider-Man. As Peter attempts to web him, Hulk rips through Spidey’s webs.
After Avengers: Endgame, Bruce Banner combined his intelligence with Hulk’s strength to become Smart Hulk. In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, he also used a gamma inhibitor device that allowed him to stay in his human form most of the time.
In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Bruce Banner’s device reportedly stops working, causing him to turn back into the Savage Hulk. This makes Hulk more dangerous and unpredictable, while Peter Parker struggles to control his own changing powers.
In the trailer, Peter asks Bruce Banner:
Peter: “Dr. Banner, you figured out a way to suppress mutating DNA, right?”
Banner: “If you see me without this, run!” (referring to his Hulk dampening device).
Peter: “Theoretically, could you get rid of the bad aspects but keep the good?”
Banner: “How would you decide which parts of nature are good or bad?”
In an interview with Empire, producer Amy Pascal spoke about Bruce Banner/Hulk’s role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
“He’s a character who’s going through a constant transformation, who’s trying to control who he is. And that works really well with what Peter’s story is.”
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman, while Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Marvin Jones III has been confirmed to play the role of Tombstone. Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will appear in the movie.
Here are the plot details for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he has devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
